When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier.

Theme of the month: VALUES
Throughout the month of April, students will be learning all about Values. Values are a code of conduct and social definition of what is appropriate, statements of worth or importance. Values act like a compass that points our thoughts and beliefs in a direction that aligns with the world around us. At Lighthouse, we do not focus on “pushing” belief systems or values that an individual may choose. Instead, we focus on the value of friendship, self-responsibility, family values, trust, caring, respect of others and their property, etc. Adherence to values such as these represents a manifestation of functional adaptation.

Philosophy Amplification Project:
The Storybook
The thirteenth highlight of our Philosophy Amplification Project is one of our originals entitled “The Storybook”, which is located in the 200 Cluster. It is a three-dimensional likeness of two pages of a book illustrating various feelings with the faces of children expressing the written feeling.
The APEX Application:
This station engages students when they are stuck on a feeling, to help ease it out, whether they are trying to discover their own feelings or the feelings of another. They may discover a new feeling and have a deeper conversation about themselves and learn how to connect between feelings and actions.
The Biodevelopmental components are:
Affective Dimension, Cognitive Dimension, Self-Exploration, Sensory Dimension and Relational Constancy
“Feelings come and feelings go. I never know that they’ll be.
Silly or angry, happy or sad - They’re all a part of me!

OUR CAMPUS FACILITIES MILESTONE
The Lighthouse Campus Development Project is making progress every day. It is so amazing to see the difference a day or week makes. Staff and students alike are looking forward to being in the new building and all back together again. Please enjoy the latest photos of the building development.

ELECTIVES
CLUBS
We have a variety of electives that students are participating in. Some of the electives are: STEM, visual arts, digital photography, and Serve Safe. This gives the students some independence with the classes they are enrolled in. Electives are a fun way to learn with hands-on experiences. Students enjoy building bridges and planes in STEM, learning about the cross-contamination of food in Serve Safe, and exploring taking pictures with different settings in digital photography.
Clubs have continued and changed throughout the year. Currently, students are able to spend their tokens on; Video Game Club, Art Club, and Remote Control Car Club. These clubs offer socialization opportunities for our students. For our older students, we have Intramural Basketball which will provide opportunities to work on their athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Read Across America Week
Lighthouse School celebrated Read Across America the week of March 4th. We hosted the Scholastic Book Fair, which was a big hit with all of the students. They were able to purchase books with tokens they worked hard to earn. We also had guest readers who joined Reading Groups to read a story aloud to the students.
Lastly, our younger students were granted a surprise with “Buddy Readers”. This was when some of our older students visited the Wellman Campus and read stories to them. It was a special afternoon for all.
